The only thing better than a trip to New Zealand? A free stopover in Tahiti on the way! Fly from LAX to Auckland, New Zealand—with a free three-night stopover in Tahiti—from $1,220 per person (including taxes and fees) on Air Tahiti Nui.
Even the airfare alone represents a great deal, since fares typically run about $1,450. Add in three free hotel nights in Tahiti, and you’re looking at savings of around $500 per person. Savings are especially good if you fly during high season, before November 1. But note: The price is for specific flights only, subject to availability, and October flights are selling out quickly.
The lowest price will get you a stay at the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti or the Sofitel Tahiti Maeva Beach Resort. For an extra $60 per person per stay, you can upgrade to the Manava Suite Resort Tahiti, the Le Meridien Tahiti, or the InterContinental Resort Tahiti. Note that the prices are based on double occupancy.
Kleon Howe, the French Polynesia specialist on our annual list of top travel specialists, says the InterContinental is his top pick for its amenities—including two pools—and is well worth the $40 per night to upgrade.
Dates: Book by July 11 for travel between August 15, 2010 and March 31, 2011.
How to book: We recommend you contact Kleon. He can get the same airfare as above and is full of advice for maximizing your time on-island.
