Get The Third Night Free at a New Ecolodge in Nicaragua

Enjoy the lake (and sunset) views from the infinity pool at Jicaro Island Ecolodge, in Nicaragua's Granada Isletas.

One of the best parts of my trip to Nicaragua over the holidays was my stay at Jicaro Island Ecolodge, a brand-new ecolodge in the Granada Isletas. I was there for a solo vacation, but the lodge is equally ideal for a romantic getaway à deux -- the small, private island (a ten-minute speedboat ride from the mainland) holds just nine individual two-story lakefront casitas plus dining and lounging areas, a spa with a yoga deck, a sunset-facing infinity pool, and plenty of nooks perfect for canoodling (or curling up with a book). I could've spent endless hours in the hammock on my casita's balcony, but for those who want more adventure, the lodge's excellent guide will take you on a kayaking tour through the surrounding islands, or on tours of the Spanish colonial town of Granada or the nearby Mombacho nature preserve.

As an opening special, the property is offering a third night free for stays through April 2010.  A three-night stay is usually $1,311 (double occupancy, including tax); with this deal it's just $874, averaging $291/night. All meals are included as well, since the downside to the super-secluded location is that you can't exactly pop out to someplace else for dinner (but trust me, you'll love the food at the lodge).

The details: For travel through April 2010; book through the reservations page on the hotel's website.
