Here's a way to save big in the city that gave us Starbucks, grunge, and Bill Gates: The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, through a tie-in with the deal-hunters at Travelzoo.com, is offering rooms through the end of March for just $149 (before tax), plus 25% off food and beverages at the hotel.
This downtown hotel, located with walking distance of Pike Place Market, and the Seattle Art Museum, is one of the city's iconic properties (for years it was a Four Seasons Hotel). We test-booked some dates centered around winter events in the city, and a $172 King room (the $149 room rate advertised by Travelzoo.com plus 15.6% tax) was available during January's Children's Film Festival and February's Northwest Flower and Garden Show. Compare this with the best available rate for those days of $225 without the promotion. After factoring in the 25% food savings—for instance $10 off the Continental buffet breakfast for two at The Georgian restaurant (usually $20 per person), and $35 saved on the restaurant's three-course meal for two with wine (usually $70 per person)—the overall savings can be as much as 43%.
Dates: Bookings must be by January 17, 2010 for stays through March 31, 2010. Blackout dates are February 1-5, 2010 and March 7-10, 2010.
How to book: Go to Fairmont's Web site and type in the promo code PRTVZ1 or call the hotel at 800-333-2176 and mention the code TRAVELZOO.
Condé Nast Traveler approved: The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, formerly the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel, has been on our Gold List every year since the list's inception in 1995.
