$59 Rooms at Harrah's Lake Tahoe During Peak Ski Season

All the snow that has blanketed much of the country this past week has given a great head start for skiers. So this great offer courtesy of travelzoo.com at Harrah's Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada (that's South Lake Tahoe)—comes as welcome news for powderhounds. Skiers prize the location of the Harrah's: It's only two blocks from the gondola base at Heavenly Ski Resort, whose 4,800 acres of terrain receive an average snowfall of 360 inches per year. The recent blizzard dumped three feet of powder on Heavenly in the past week.

For weeknights at the 532-room resort—which has seven restaurants, a heated, indoor pool, and a full-service spa—rates start at just $59 per night. These special prices are good for travel from January 3, 2010, through April 30, 2010.

We priced out a couple of nights in mid-January, during the heart of the ski season, and were able to get a Premium Room for $59 per night versus $129 without the deal (a saving of 54%), while a luxury suite was available for $149 versus $199 without the promotion (25% savings). And if the prospect of saving that much is heartbreaking, there are always the six casinos in Stateline that will happily take it off your hands.

Dates: The promotion runs for Sunday through Thursday nights, from January 3, 2010 through April 30, 2010. There are a handful of blackout dates: January 17, February 7, February 14, April 4, 2010.

How to book: Make reservations through Harrah's Lake Tahoe Web site, or by calling Harrah's central reservations at 1-800-427-7247 and using the promotion code PKGPTZOO. Rates do not include 10% taxes.
