Joie de Vivre's Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, California opened earlier this year.
For such an under-the-radar promotion, today’s deal has a whopping number of choices when it comes to hotels and travel dates. California-based Joie de Vivre hotels is offering a third night free at all of its 35 properties through spring 2010.
The hotel brand is known for its hip collection of small hotels in California, most of which are in the Bay area. We test-booked two hotels for three nights from November 12 to 15: At the Hotel Kabuki, one of the more thematically designed hotels in San Francisco's Japantown, we found a deluxe room with a king-sized bed for $366 instead of the usual $525 (including taxes). Down in Orange County, at the brand-new Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, you can reserve a city view room with a queen bed for $397 instead of $576 (including taxes). There's more room choice for all hotels in the later months, though.
Note that when you book this offer online, taxes will be applied to your third night. But when you check out of the hotel, those third-night taxes will be deducted from your bill.
Dates: Book by May 31, 2010 for travel from now through June 15, 2010. There are some blackout dates that vary by hotel.
How to book: You won't find this on Joie de Vivre’s main Web site—it’s all about word of mouth. To book, go to joieoflife.com and use the promotional code JOIE.
Extras: The Joie de Vivre company is all about social media. (Heck, even its CEO, Chip Conley, is all over YouTube.) You can use joieoflife.com to sign up for last-minute hotel, restaurant, and spa discounts through December 2009 with Joie de Vivre’s Twitter Tuesdays, and Facebook Fridays.
